Mark Magsayo is nearing the coveted shot at another world title when he takes on Michael Magnesi of Italy in a super featherweight title eliminator as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Thrilla in Manila on Oct. 29.

Magsayo, who once held the World Boxing Council featherweight belt, has been undefeated since climbing up to the 130lbs division enough to set up the fight against the No.2 rated Magnesi.

The winner between Magsayo and Magnesi will earn the right to challenge O’Shaquie Foster for the WBC super featherweight crown.

The 30-year-old pride of Tagbilaran City Bohol is sporting a 28-2 record with 18 knockouts. He is currently on a four-fight win streak including a convincing unanimous decision win against Jorge Mata.

Magnesi, on the other hand, boasts of a 25-2 record with 13 KOs. He has long been considered a contender for the crown but suffered a shocking loss to Masanori Rikiishi.

He has since bounced back with back-to-back wins over Kevin Trana and Khalil El Hadri to return into the title race.
