The coaching shuffle between Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia – two teams under the San Miguel Corporation bloc continues this offseason.
LA Tenorio is bringing in assistant coaches Kirk Collier and Monch Gavieres with him at Magnolia while Johnny Abarrientos is set to be reunited with Tim Cone at the Kings camp.
Tenorio already hit the ground running in his first PBA coaching stint, facilitating the Hotshots first day of practice as posted by the team in its official Instagram account.
Also seen helping Tenorio in the practice were Paul Sorongon and Itoy Esguerra, who were both deputies to former head coach Chito Victolero. Newly-appointed governor Jason Webb was also in attendance.
Collier, who served as an assistant and skills coach for Ginebra, and Gavieres, who had stints as deputy with the Kings and Terrafirma Dyip, were also part of Tenorio’s coaching staff.
Both Collier and Gavieres were also with Tenorio in the Gilas youth teams.
Meanwhile, Abarrientos is moving on from the Purefood franchise and re-joining with Cone as part of his coaching staff.
The PBA great-turned-coach played for Cone during his playing years and spent time as his assistant during the veteran coach’s tenure as the San Mig Coffee Mixers top tactician.
The two even won a Grand Slam together at the bench during the Coffee Mixers triple crown run in 2014.
Abarrientos, will also be able to handle his nephew and Ginebra guard, RJ who will be playing his sophomore season with the Kings.
He will join long-time Cone deputy Richard del Rosario, Patrick Partosa and Olsen Racela at the Kings bench.
