Bacolod gets P500,000 fine for forfeiting game against Pangasinan; Caloocan wins

The Bacolod Tubo Slashers have been fined P500,000 for forfeiting their game against the Pangasinan Heatwaves on June 21, 2025, in Manny Pacquiao presents MPBL 2025 Season at the Pola Gymnasium in Oriental Mindoro.

MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes decided on the penalty after a review of the circumstances surrounding Bacolod’s refusal to play the second half after trailing, 30-50, at the break.

The Tubo Slashers must pay the full amount and the tournament fee before their next scheduled game against the Imus Braderhood at 6 p.m. on June 26 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Failure to comply will mean forfeiture of Bacolod’s game against Imus as well.

Meanwhile, the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo trounced Manila Batang Quiapo, 110-92, in the opener of another MPBL 2025 Season tripleheader on Monday, June 23, at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

Jeff Manday posted 26 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds to power Caloocan to its 12th win against 5 losses in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament.

Jeramer Cabanag supported with 19 points and 4 rebounds, followed by Paul Sanga with 14 points and 2 rebounds, Joshua Flores with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, and Antonio Bonsubre with 6 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.

Manila absorbed its 15th straight defeat after an initial win despite Achie Inigo’s triple-double of 25 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds plus 4 steals.

Batang Quiapo also drew 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists from Decoy Lopez, and 11 points plus 2 rebounds from Stephen Torralba.

The MPBL returns to the Bren Z, Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City on Tuesday with games pitting Marikina against Davao at 4 p.m., Pasig against Sarangani at 6 p.m., and host Pampanga against Cebu at 8 p.m.
