Former Ateneo standout Kristian Porter is ready to begin a new chapter in his collegiate career as he confirmed his transfer to University of Santo Tomas.
Less than a month after his departure from his long-time alma mater, the 19-year-old Porter opted to bring his talent to the Growling Tigers, who reached the semifinal round last Season 87.
The 6-foot-5 forward could be a huge boost for the Pido Jarencio-mentored crew’s frontcourt, especially after its big man Mo Tounkara decided to leave the squad to play professionally for Stade Malien in Basketball Africa League.
However, the Cebuano cager must serve a one-year residency before he can play for UST which is in Season 89, meaning he will skip this coming 88th edition of the UAAP basketball tournament.
A mainstay for Ateneo since grade school, Porter listed 6.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest, displaying a great potential alongside Jared Bahay for the Blue Eagles, who ended up dead last with a 4-10 slate.
Last May, Porter penned a lengthy emotional farewell to Ateneo where he started his basketball journey. (Mark Rey Montejo)
