Couple found dead inside their restaurant in Marawi City

ILIGAN CITY – The owners of a popular chicken restaurant in Marawi City were found dead inside their establishment on Friday morning, May 16.

Police identified the victims as couple Bairah Sangcaan Monte and Usodan Hadjicaya Monte, owners of B&E Inasal sa Sarimanok.

Concerned individuals found their bodies and reported their grim discovery to the police.

Marawi Mayor Majul Gandamra urged the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and identify the suspects as soon as possible.

Police Lt. Col. Muhidin Pagayawan, Marawi police chief, condoled with the victims’ families.

“Inalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun (We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return). The loss of life is always a matter of great concern to the PNP (Philippine National Police). We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that due process is followed in all aspects of the investigation,” he said.

Police urged the public to avoid speculations as they conduct an investigation. Any update deemed appropriate for public dissemination will be released in due course, they said.

“We also appeal to anyone who may have information relevant to this case to come forward and assist MCPS in the course of the investigation. The Marawi CPS remains steadfast in its duty to serve and protect, with full transparency and respect for the rule of law.” (Bonita Ermac)
