De La Salle cruised to a 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 victory over University of the East to boost its playoff bonus bid in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, April 5.

The red-hot Lady Spikers held their composure despite persistent attempts from the Lady Warriors in the first and third sets to notch their third straight win for an 8-3 mark.

The triumph cemented La Salle’s place at second, bolstering its bid for a twice-to-beat advantage in the semis. UE, meanwhile, skidded to its 11th straight defeat to stay at the bottom.

As expected, Angel Canino and Shevana Laput led the Lady Spikers by pouring 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Amie Provido and Jillian Santos added nine and six points. Mikole Reyes also shone with 18 excellent sets along with three points.

Unlike in their first meeting last March 8 where La Salle had to dig deep to prevail 25-12, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, the Lady Spikers commanded the match throughout with timely kills anchored on Canino and Laput.
