Tamayo dazzles as Sakers frustrate Egis; Cagulangan, Suwon fall

Carl Tamayo scored 21 points and the Changwon LG Sakers beat the Busan KCC Egis, 90-80, to get back on the winning track in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Thursday, Feb. 6.

The Sakers started hot, wavered but recovered through a dizzying 18-2 run to finally take the fight out of Egis.
Apart from topscoring for the Sakers, Tamayo, fast emerging as one of the league’s certified stars, also had six rebounds and six assists.

He was ably assisted by Assem Marei, who posted18 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.

Not to be left out was Yang Jun-Seok who scored timely baskets on the way to his 17 points. Jeong In-Deok and Jeon Seong-Hyun contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan’s Suwon KT Sonicboom succumbed to the league-leading Seoul SK Knights, 80-75, despite posting significant numbers of 11 points, 3 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Changwon slipped to 20-16 record at fourth while Seoul improved to 29-7.
