Agatha Wong and Jamie Lim, gold medal winners in last year’s Southeast Asian Games, launched a fundraiser for patients and frontliners battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wong and Lim announced the fundraiser on Instagram and will use the same platform to discuss “all things sports and health” through online seminars and Q&A sessions.

The two will air a five-episode Instagram Live series that will last 30 minutes every Wednesday and Saturday.

“What we hope for by the end of this fundraiser is to inspire others through our experiences as national athletes, promote the importance of sports especially to the younger generation, and to deepen everyone’s understanding of Karate & Wushu while fighting this health war together, as a nation,” the two said in a joint statement.

“Packs a one-two punch! It’s a knockout.”

All proceeds will go to the COVID-19 patients and persons under investigation (PUIs) in Quezon City health facilities and frontliners at the Philippine General Hospital, Lim said in her caption.

Wushu star Wong bagged two gold medals in the 2019 SEA Games while karateka Jamie, the daughter of PBA legend Samboy Lim and former PAGIBIG official Darlene Berberabe, topped the +61kg kumite event.

Lim also captured gold in the -68kg division of the Karate Premier League Kharkiv Open 2020 in Ukraine last February, which serves as a qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics. (Jan Carlo Anolin) ###
