Cloudy skies with scattered rains will prevail over most parts of the country today, Saturday, Jan. 18, as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continues to affect Luzon and parts of Visayas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said there is no low-pressure area that will affect the country in the coming days.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the amihan is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon, which might lead to possible flash flood or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.
PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected in areas affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas and Cavite.
Isolated thunderstorms within the vicinity of the volcano are also likely while motorists could still experience reduced visibility due to ash fall.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon. (Alexandria San Juan)
