Makati fire leaves 70 families homeless

A fire razed a residential area in Barangay Tejeros, Makati City, Tuesday morning, leaving more than 70 families homeless.

The fire, which reached the fourth alarm, started as early as 7:36 a.m. at the house of one Laarni Villalva at 272 JP Rizal Street, Barangay Tejeros, Makati City.

Police personnel were immediately dispatched to cordon the area as firefighters led by F/Major Ronald Sanchez of the Makati City Bureau of Fire Protection battle the blaze.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region, the fire was declared under control at 9:42 a.m. and was put out at exactly 10 a.m..

More than 26 houses, mostly shanties were engulfed in flames with damage to properties pegged at P1.2 million. (Dhel Nazario)
