An alleged drug peddler died in a shootout with police while his cohort escaped near Del Pan Bridge in Binondo, Manila, yesterday morning.
Police identified the slain suspect as a certain Junjun.
Initial investigation showed that at 2 a.m. yesterday, members of Smokey Meisic Police conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects, which resulted in a gunfight.
One of the suspects was declared dead on arrival at Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center while his cohort managed to flee.
Recovered from the scene were a 9 mm pistol, two sachets of suspected shabu, and three cartridge cases.
Police have launched a manhunt against the other suspect. (Erma Edera)
