Police arrested three Chinese nationals and a Filipino cohort in Angeles City after their victim, a 37‑year‑old Chinese supermarket owner, managed to escape captivity last Tuesday.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as “XL,” “LHW,” “Chen Chen,” and “Radx.”
They were tracked down and caught by responding officers shortly after the victim fled.
Anti‑Kidnapping Group chief Brig. Gen. Edwin Balles said the suspects had abducted the victim on Friendship Highway last Sunday and demanded ₱60 million for his release.
Their plan unraveled when the victim escaped two days later, leading police directly to the group.
The four were subjected to inquest proceedings for kidnapping for ransom and serious illegal detention.
Two more suspects — another Chinese national and a Filipino cohort — remain at large.
Investigators are coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration and the Chinese Embassy to secure records of the foreigners allegedly involved.
