A 28-year-old businessman died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a post after its brakes failed in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said the incident occurred on Tuesday night, Aug. 4, while the victim and an Isuzu truck van were traveling along Eastwood Road in opposite directions.
Based on the investigation, the truck van was travelling along its proper lane when the victim’s motorcycle allegedly veered into the opposite lane.
CCTV footage showed the van immediately stopped, but the motorcycle still struck its front portion before continuing forward and crashing into a concrete post.
Due to the impact, the motorcycle and its rider were thrown towards the middle of the road, causing the rider to suffer severe injuries and die on the spot.
Authorities said the parties agreed to settle the matter amicably, with the truck van operator willing to provide financial assistance to the rider’s family.
