Magnitude 5.8 quake jolts Occidental Mindoro

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Occidental Mindoro on Friday morning, Aug. 7, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake occurred at 10:38 a.m. and was traced to an area 21 kilometers southwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

It had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

As of posting time, Phivolcs had yet to release the earthquake intensity reports from affected areas.
