May 460 truck drivers ang sinita kahapon ng traffic enforcers ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) nang magsagawa ng trial run para sa light truck ban sa kahabaaan ng Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) at Shaw Boulevard.
Ang mga sinitang truck drivers ay binigyan lamang ng impormasyon tungkol sa ipinaiiral na light truck ban, ngunit simula sa darating na Lunes, ang mga lalabag sa bagong policy ay bibigyan ng traffic violation receipt na may kaukulang R2,000 multa.
Ayon kay MMDA chairman officer-in-charge Tim Orbos, ang light trucks na may dala-dalang perishable goods ay exempted sa ban ngunit kailangan pa rin nilang mag-apply ng exemption.
“Applicants must secure a certification from the Department of Agriculture and vehicles’ official receipt and certificate of registration,” sabi ni Orbos.
Exempted din sa ban ang government at emergency vehicles, tulad ng fire trucks at ambulances.
