A 33‑year‑old sales manager was arrested after allegedly swindling a 42‑year‑old businesswoman of ₱1.2 million in a supposed overseas job and condominium investment scheme.
Police identified the suspect, alias “Cris” of Makati City, who gained the victim’s trust through a mutual friend on Facebook Messenger.
Investigators said Cris collected about ₱1.2 million via several online transfers for employment document processing and investment transactions.
On Aug. 13, the suspect allegedly sent the victim two post‑dated checks worth ₱60 million and ₱30 million as supposed reimbursement, but both turned out to be counterfeit.
The victim reported the incident to Batasan Police Station (PS 6).
A week later, on Aug. 20, PS 6 operatives conducted an entrapment operation after the suspect demanded another ₱88,000 for the supposed processing of a condominium Deed of Absolute Sale.
The sting led to Cris’ arrest.
Recovered from the suspect were ₱2,000 in marked money, ₱60,000 in boodle money, and a Vivo Y04 cellphone.
The suspect remains in police custody and will face charges of estafa and two counts of falsification of commercial documents before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
