The House Committee on Justice has trimmed down the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte to two.

During its initial hearing on Monday, March 2, the panel dismissed two of the four complaints filed, leaving only those lodged by Father Joel Saballa and Atty. Nathaniel Cabrera active.

Both complaints, the third and fourth filed this year, were declared “sufficient in form” by Committee Chair Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro of Batangas’ 2nd District

With no objections raised, the complaints cleared their first hurdle.

The next step is a tougher test: determining sufficiency in substance. The committee is set to deliberate on this in its hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 3. (Ellson Quismorio)
