SANTA CRUZ, Laguna — The Laguna Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 has issued an arrest warrant against businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang for his alleged involvement in the disappearance of dozens of sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts.

Ang faces charges of kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping before three RTCs in Lipa City, Batangas; Santa Cruz, Laguna; and San Pablo City, Laguna. The charges are non-bailable.

The arrest warrant, issued by Presiding Judge Mary Jean Cajandab-Ong on Jan. 13, 2026, ordered law enforcers to use at least one body-worn camera and one alternative recording device, pursuant to the Supreme Court’s Rules on the Use of Body-Worn Cameras in the Execution of Warrants.

The case originated in 2022 following the mysterious disappearances of several cockfighting enthusiasts. It resurfaced in public consciousness last year after whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, also known as Totoy, claimed to know where their bodies had been dumped in Taal Lake.

Patidongan alleged that as many as 100 people were murdered due to their involvement in match-fixing and identified Ang, his former employer, as the mastermind behind the disappearances.

Ang has denied the accusations. (Danny Estacio)
