“Stronger, Better, Together” is the theme of UAAP Season 87, the new season of

the University Athletic Association of the Philippines that begins in September

this year.

The new tagline was revealed at the closing ceremony of UAAP Season 86 at

the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday by Board of Managing Directors member

Dolriech “Bo” Perasol, Director of the Office of Athletics and Sports Development

of the University of the Philippines, host school for Season 87.

“The UAAP is the country’s premier collegiate league. Its popularity and success

has grown exponentially through the years because it continues to grow, evolve

and innovate. It has introduced new sports, expanded divisions within existing

sports and finds new ways to reach out and connect with its ever-increasing

audiences,” Perasol said.

‘Stronger, Better, Together’ is a call to the league to be unceasingly forward-

looking and creative, and a reminder that the way to continuing success and

relevance is to be one. Our mission is to inspire young athletes to compete and

strive for excellence, but always to remember that we are one harmonious family

and citizens of one nation. We are all stronger and better if we are one. This is

true not just in sports, but in all aspects of life,” he added.

The new Season 87 logo was not unveiled at the closing ceremony, but Perasol

said it will reflect the theme and is inspired by the age-old image of Hands In

Huddle.

“The clenched, fighting fist of the UP team logo will do something different in the

UAAP Season 87 logo,” teased Perasol. “The central visual is open hands

reaching out to each other in cooperation, coming together as one team, like in a

game huddle. As host, UP is at the top of the wheel and is extending the

invitation to all the schools to come together and do great things for the league,

for sports, for the sports community and for the country. We’re still finalizing the

design.”

When finalized, the logo will reflect the Season 87 message and become a

colorful wheel of passionate hues and team identities. Each school’s colors will

be prominently featured but everything will come together as one image, one

UAAP, Perasol explained.

Season 87 will start on Sept. 7, 2024.
