A female fetus, estimated to be six to eight months old, was discovered inside a box marked for clothes donations at Malate Church in Manila.
According to an initial report from the Manila Police District (MPD), a security aide found the fetus around 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, while inspecting the donation area inside the church on M.H. Del Pilar Street.
Authorities said the fetus, which still had its umbilical cord attached, was wrapped in a blood‑stained bedsheet and covered with donated clothes inside a used milk supplement box labeled “Clothes Donation Malate Church.”
Police noted that the box had been delivered the night before, around 9:40 p.m. on August 21, by a woman who identified herself as a Lalamove rider. She reportedly presented a booking receipt and claimed the package came from a certain “Mam Cora” and was intended for the parish priest.
The discovery prompted the witness to alert personnel of the Remedios Police Community Precinct. Responding officers secured the area and notified the MPD Homicide Section, which has since taken over the investigation.
The fetus was later brought to J. Roa Funeral for safekeeping. Authorities said they are now tracing the identity of the woman who delivered the box and the individual identified as “Mam Cora.”
