ZAMBOANGA CITY — The head of the Pagadian City Police Intelligence Unit was killed in a shootout that erupted during a sting operation against arms dealers shortly after midnight on Sunday, Aug. 23.
Police identified the slain officer as PMaj. Aiman Khuzaimah P. Pantaran, 35, a resident of Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City.
Pantaran had led the operation targeting brothers Jhonny Bravo Gomez and Jerry Bravo Gomez, who were suspected of trafficking unregistered firearms.
The suspects opened fire after realizing they were dealing with authorities, triggering a gun battle.
Pantaran sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso and later died while receiving medical treatment.
The Gomez brothers also suffered fatal injuries.
The Police Regional Office‑9 expressed condolences, honoring Pantaran as a dedicated officer whose life was committed to protecting others.
