The lights dimmed at Viva Café, but the room buzzed with energy. On cue, bold red letters lit up the LED screen: MAXBOYZ.

Then, 14 young men stormed the stage in tight, confident choreography.

Just like that, the newest all-male dance group on the Filipino entertainment scene was launched.

Dubbed by some as a “Filipino Magic Mike”—but with cleaner lines and a global edge—Maxboyz made their debut with flair and force.

“They weren’t just dancing. They were making a statement,” someone near us whispered.

Behind the group is Mariposa Cabigquez, a former “Wowowee” dancer and ex-councilor of Meycauayan City, now CEO and choreographer at Wildstar Media & Production.

“I wanted to redefine what it means to be a Filipino male performer—bold, classy, and world-stage ready,” she told  us.

Cabigquez’s vision isn’t about copying K-pop or diving into adult revue. With Maxboyz, she is aiming for something polished, confident, and uniquely Pinoy.

Months before the launch, Wildstar held nationwide auditions, eventually selecting 14 performers—Aei, Ben, BK, Chadd, CJ, Dale, JJ, JP, RD, Red, RJ, SW, Ton, and Wolf —based not just on looks, but stage presence and versatility.

“We weren’t looking for just dancers,” Cabigquez said. “We were looking for stars.”

A pre-show video revealed their journey: from intense rehearsals to concept meetings, all leading up to their official contract signing with Wildstar.

Then came the performance.

Maxboyz delivered a high-energy set with sharp formations, theatrical flair, and creative props—teasing the edge of sensuality while maintaining class.

“It felt like a Vegas show with Pinoy soul,” said a press member.

“I expected backup dancers. I saw stars,” said another.

The crowd roared. Fans singled out early favorites—Wolf, Red, and JP.

This isn’t a one-time gig. Weekly shows, digital content, and crossover projects are already in the works.
