A 55‑year‑old American guest triggered a tense standoff with police after allegedly refusing to settle his hotel charges in Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City, on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 5.
Police identified the suspect only as alias “James.”
Hotel management reported that he had checked in on July 18 and stayed in Room 371 until Aug. 5 without paying his accommodation fees.
When staff pressed him to settle the charges, he allegedly became unruly, prompting barangay officials and later the Project 6 Police Station (PS 15) to intervene.
Responding officers said the suspect shouted profanities, disturbed other guests, and struck his room door from inside.
With management’s consent, police forcibly entered the room after repeated refusals to come out.
Authorities reported that the suspect attempted to attack them with a wooden object before being restrained and arrested at around 3:30 p.m.
He now faces complaints for alarms and scandals, as well as resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
