An employee of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) died while his colleague was injured after being electrocuted by a live wire during tree-pruning operations in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Saturday, March 15.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the fatality as 46-year-old Noel Calanao of Marikina City, and the injured worker as 62-year-old Dante Guardiano from Rizal Province. Police said the two were conducting tree-pruning work when they accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire.
Both victims were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Calanao was declared dead on arrival, while Guardiano survived and remains under observation.
Authorities said an investigation into the incident is still ongoing. (Patrick Garcia)
