Jemalyn Menor scored 17 points and the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas mauled the San Sebastian College Lady Stags, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19, in the NCAA Season 101 Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the San Andres Gym in Malate, Manila, Friday, March 6.
Menor, a native of Pangasinan, tallied 17 points off 15 attacks and 2 aces with 8 digs, while Cyrille Almeniana added 14 points off 12 attacks and 2 aces with three excellent receptions as Perpetual improved to 10-2 – enough to secure a Top 2 slot with one game left.
Menor and Almeniana stood out offensively – thanks to the creative plays of Fifi Ariola, who tallied 25 excellent sets in 107 attempts, while libero Joanna Denise Lozano delivered defensively with 23 digs and 10 receptions.
They hope to sustain their impressive run when they battle the Mapua Lady Cardinals on Sunday, March 8.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Sarie exploded for 27 points as Letran extended its winning to 12 with a 25-14, 24-26, 26-24, 20-25, 15-10 win over Arellano University.
In men’s side, defending champion Arellano defeated Letran in five sets, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25, 16-14, and hiked its record to 8-4 card.
Letran fell to 6-6.
