A man was rescued after climbing on top of the LRT-2 Antipolo Station on Thursday night, March 5, Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares confirmed.
The man, a resident of Manggahan, Pasig, is a former convict who had been imprisoned in Muntinlupa for a crime he claims he did not commit.
According to Ynares, the man was experiencing difficulties finding a job due to his criminal record. He was also reportedly suffering from a mental illness, which prompted him to climb onto the station.
After hours of negotiation with rescuers and personnel from the city governments of Antipolo, Pasig, and Quezon City, the man was eventually persuaded to voluntarily come down at around 8 p.m.
“Pinatingnan na rin natin siya sa ating mga doktor sa ating ospital upang matiyak na nasa maayos siyang kalagayan,” the mayor said man is now with, adding that the his family.
He will be turned over to the Pasig City government for further interventions and monitoring. (Patrick Garcia)
