University of Perpetual Help System Dalta men’s and women’s teams are out to maintain their current positions as they intend to go deep in the NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournaments.

Sporting an 8-3 card in Group A, the second running Altas can secure the top spot if they hurdle their last two assignments – against the San Sebastian Stags on Friday, March 6, and the Mapua Cardinals on Sunday, March 8.

As things stand, Perpetual needs only to win one to claim a bonus.

That would be a great opportunity for the winningest school in the men’s side to add another trophy to its cabinet. They are proud owners of 14 overall titles although they missed last year’s Final Four after piling a dismal 10-8 mark. They eventually finished 6th in the centennial season of the grand old league.

The Altas currently sit behind the College of St. Benilde Blazers (8-3) and ahead of pursuers Mapua (6-5), and play-in squads in San Sebastian (5-7), and Jose Rizal University (1-11).

Reigning champion Arellano is on top of Group B with a 7-4 tally, followed by Emilio Aguinaldo College (7-4) and San Beda (7-5). Letran (6-5) and Lyceum (2-10) are relegated to play-in games.

Meanwhile, the Lady Altas are also heading into their last two games – against the Lady Stags and the Lady Cardinals on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Unlike their male counterparts, the Lady Altas are already assured of a twice-to-beat edge in the quarters being the current leader in Group A with a 9-2 mark.

But not far behind is reigning titlist Benilde (8-3) followed by Mapua (5-6), San Sebastian (5-7), and JRU (2-10).
