The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) assisted 299 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by the Middle East conflict upon their safe return from Dubai at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Thursday, March 5.

The group, who arrived via Emirates Airlines Flight 336, comprised the first batch of Filipino evacuees from the conflict.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan personally welcomed and attended to the first 25 OFWs, together with representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

At the airport, government agencies provided essential support, including food, temporary accommodation, and transportation.

OWWA, in coordination with other agencies, also extended immediate financial and reintegration assistance to help the evacuees start anew in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, OWWA warned the public against AI-generated “fake news” videos falsely promising a ₱150,000 financial aid package.

The agency clarified that no such grant exists and urged OFWs to remain vigilant against realistic but fraudulent digital content.

Legitimate members in distress are entitled to valid benefits, including livelihood programs, scholarships, and upskilling opportunities.

OWWA emphasized that the safe return of Filipinos remains the government’s top priority amid ongoing regional tensions.

For immediate assistance, OFWs are advised to contact OWWA through its hotline 1348, which available 24/7. Kabayans may also contact the nearest OWWA Regional Office or use the Kumusta Kabayan app. (Odralim Villarez)
