Everything is set for the staging of the 3rd El Presidente Cup, a one-day golf-for-a-cause tournament organized by basketball icon Ramon Fernandez on April

24 at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

More than just a golf tournament, the El Presidente Cup stands as a meaningful

platform for sports-driven nation building anchored on the advocacy  of  Fernandez.

The event starts at 11 a.m. followed by an early dinner reception and awarding ceremonies.

The tournament is organized in support of the Ramon S. Fernandez Sports and Youth Development Foundation, a  foundation  born from Fernandez’s  lifelong  belief  that sports transform lives.

Known to generations  of  Filipinos as “El Presidente,” Fernandez is a four-time MVP in the  Philippine  Basketball  Association  and  one  of  the  greatest  players  in  Philippine sports  history.  Beyond  his  decorated  career,  he  later  served  as  commissioner  of  the Philippine  Sports  Commission,  where  he  championed grassroots development, athlete welfare, and long-term sports programs nationwide.

The Foundation was established to extend that mission beyond public office — focusing on:

  • Supporting promising but underfunded young athletes
  • Providing access to training, competition, and international exposure
  • Assisting in educational opportunities through sports scholarships
  • Promoting discipline, leadership, and character development
  • Encouraging holistic growth — both athletic and academic

From  basketball  courts  to  golf  fairways,  the  Foundation  believes  that  sports  provide structure,  hope,  and  direction  —  especially  for  young  Filipinos  with  talent  but  limited resources.

The El  Presidente  Cup  serves  as  one  of  its  flagship  fundraising  and  awareness initiatives, bringing together corporate leaders, sports advocates, and golf enthusiasts in a shared commitment to youth empowerment. A proud beneficiary of the Foundation, Charles Serdenia has already received support

through previous editions of the El Presidente Cup and will continue to be a beneficiary moving forward.

Serdenia represents  the  next  generation  of  Filipino  athletic  excellence.  His  dedication and performance have earned him a commitment to pursue collegiate golf in the United States at Southern Utah University.

His journey — from competing in local junior tournaments to securing a U.S. college golf opportunity  —  embodies  the  Foundation’s  core  mission: opening doors for deserving athletes and helping them compete on the global stage.

The  3rd  El  Presidente  Cup  reinforces  its  commitment  to  sustaining  Serdenia’s development  as  he  embarks on his collegiate career, ensuring that financial limitations do not hinder world-class potential.

Chief backers of the event are Cebu Landmasters, Pryce Gases and Philippine Sports Commission while gold sponsors are RKF Solar Development Corporation, RKF Infra Ventures Inc., and Quest Plus Manila – Official Tournament Hotel. Silver sponsors are Capital One Solar Energy, Global Defense Bulletproofing Cebu, Innovator Luggage, TW Steel and Philippine Airlines.

Hole and special sponsors are Ever Bilena Cosmetics, Inc., New Canaan Insurance Agency, SM Prime, MILO, Hidetech Corporation, CARA Aesthetics, Vans, Marriott International and Golf Depot.

Through the vision of Ramon Fernandez and the continuing work of his Foundation, the tournament stands as a reminder that when sports and purpose come together, futures are built.
