A new chess organization is set to enter the sporting scene that while it is national in scope, it will be focusing on provincial and club-level implementation.
According to Joselito Dormitorio, he and other true-blue chess lovers have bonded together to form a new organization aimed at providing woodpushers an environment where they can play, learn, and enjoy the sport.
“This organization is for the 80-90 percent of chessplayers who only want to enjoy playing chess. Without being subjected to tyranny,” he wrote on his social media post.
They also stressed that it will be “a ground-up movement, designed to serve the real chess community.”
The group, which vowed to run the movement with professionalism and transparency and will put premium on players, will be officially unveiled in the coming months, including its physical office, landline and official contact numbers, official website, magazine, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and independent rating system.
Membership fee is set yearly at P200 for each member, but for this year it would be free and the collection for 2027 registration starts in December with the same amount.
The annual fee is to be allocated in the group’s local club, national and provincial offices which spearhead projects, training, tournament, and activities.
“It is our time to chart our own destiny,” he added.
