Authorities have confirmed that the suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found stuffed inside a plastic storage box under a bridge in Camarines Norte has voluntarily surrendered to police in Batangas.

The victim was identified as Anelis Abamonga Agocoy, 37, a resident of Barangay Bura, Catarman, Camiguin.

Her body, wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a black plastic storage box, was discovered by residents floating under the Pinagwarasan Bridge in Basud, Camarines Norte, before dawn on Friday, Jan. 2.

Witnesses alleged that the box had been thrown into the river by a man.

Agocoy’s identity was later confirmed on Jan. 5 by her friend, who recognized her from news reports on social media, and by her cousin.

On Wednesday, Jan. 7, the suspect, Arnel Domingo, 35, surrendered to the Rosario Municipal Police Station in Batangas.

Domingo was positively identified through a cartographic sketch released by police and corroborated by witness accounts.

Rosario police chief Police Lt. Col. Ronie Siriban coordinated with the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office Intelligence Unit, led by Police Lt. Col. Paul Cabug, for the suspect’s turn      over to the Cabuyao City Police Station in Laguna for proper investigation.

The case is now under joint investigation by Bicol and Calabarzon police, who are working to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding Agocoy’s killing. (Danny Estacio)
