Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief, has vowed to pursue criminal and administrative cases against police officers implicated in the recent ₱14-million robbery in Porac, Pampanga.
At least five policemen allegedly involved in the heist have already been relieved from their posts and will face criminal charges.
“We will not allow these few bad eggs to undermine the integrity and sacrifices of almost all our hard-working personnel, and tarnish the image of the entire organization,” Nartatez declared.
He stressed that those found guilty in the ongoing investigation “do not deserve to be in the PNP — they deserve to stay in jail.”
The PNP leadership has assured the public that accountability will be enforced and that the incident will not be allowed to erode trust in the police force.
Footage from CCTV showed that five armed men, who turned out to be police officers, raided a house in Barangay Santa Cruz on the evening of Nov. 25, holding the residents at gunpoint and forcing them inside a comfort room before fleeing with millions of pesos in cash.
Nartatez stressed that such behavior by police officers is unacceptable and will not be tolerated as he emphasized that the PNP is serious about holding rogue officers accountable. (Aaron Recuenco)
