The Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City is prepared to accept former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice L. Guo, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for qualified human trafficking, with enhanced security measures in place.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said that security protocols are being strengthened at the CIW where Guo will be transferred following the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 167’s decision promulgated on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Also convicted were Rachelle Malonzo Carreon, Jaimielyn Cruz, and Walter Wong Rong.

They were convicted for involvement in the human trafficking operations of the now banned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban town.

Citing a report from the CIW Corrections Technical Superintendent Marjorie Ann Sanidad, the BuCor said “they already deployed an additional Corrections Emergency Response Team to ensure peace and order within the facilities.”

Under the procedures, the BuCor said the CIW’s Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC) will receive Guo and will verify her documents and belongings.

Guo will be quarantined for five days at the RDC where she will undergo a thorough medical examination. After which, Guo will be transferred to the RDC’s regular dormitory where she will stay for 55 days and go through the mandatory orientation, diagnostics and qualification.

“After completing the 60-day process at the RDC, she will be transferred to her assigned regular dormitory at the Maximum-Security Camp considering that she is sentenced to life imprisonment,” the BuCor said.
