Defending champion Creamline made short work of sister team Choco Mucho, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23, to clinch a quarterfinal berth in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The Cool Smashers drew strength on import Coco Schwan, who drained 15 points built on 12 kills, two blocks and one ace en route to their fifth triumph in seven games.
With the win, they join early quarterfinalists ZUS Coffee, PLDT and Farm Fresh, while advancing to the Final 8 for eighth straight year.
The Flying Titans, meanwhile, skidded to 2-5, putting their quarters hopes in peril.
Relentless all throughout, Creamline pounced on Choco Mucho with Schwan joining forces with Michele Gumabao at the offensive frontline, and Pangs Panaga and Tots Carlos taking charge of the defense.
Gumabao poured eight of her nine points on attacks, while Panaga posted three of the team’s eight blocks and finished with seven points.
Carlos, for her part, managed eight excellent digs on top of eight points.
The Cool Smashers also gained 26 points off the Flying Titans’ errors, with only Isa Molde scoring in double figures with 11 points.
Import Anyse Smith came off the bench for Choco Mucho in the first set, then played a full third set, but managed with only five points.
