The PBA has taken precaution and suspended the scheduled doubleheader on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Ynares Center in Montalban in anticipation of  the incoming Super Typhoon ‘Uwan’ who is expected to make landfall on the same day.

According to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), ‘Uwan’ has rapidly intensified in the last 24 hours and is anticipated to make its presence felt as early as Sunday morning before making landfall in the evening in Isabela-Aurora area.

The inclement weather, according to PAGASA, will continue until Monday morning..

“In light of the incoming Super Typhoon Uwan, and with the safety of our fans, players, officials, and staff as our top priority, the PBA has decided to POSTPONE its Sunday, November 9 games,” said the league in a statement on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The Sunday twin-bill is supposed to feature a titanic clash between contenders TNT and Magnolia in the first offering at 5:15 p.m. while Barangay Ginebra is taking on Titan Ultra in the second game at 7:30 p.m.

The Tropang 5G, who boasts a 5-1 record, are aiming for a share of the lead in the standings after barely surviving the Terrafirma Dyip in overtime 109-95 while the Hotshots are hoping to quickly bounce back from a tough 94-92 loss to San Miguel Beermen, both just last Friday, Nov. 7.

The Kings and the Giant Risers, who are both coming off wins, on the other hand, are supposed to gun for their second straight wins.

The PBA said announcements will be made regarding the new schedule of the games

“Please stand by for the updated schedule of games, which will be announced soon through our official channels. The PBA urges everyone to take all necessary precautions and stay safe during the typhoon,” the league added.

Saturday’s game, meanwhile, is pushing through as scheduled.
