BOCAUE, Bulacan — A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday morning, Oct. 27, for allegedly manufacturing firecrackers without proper authorization during a police raid on illegal production site in Sitio Bihunan, Barangay Biñang 1st.
Lt. Col. Virgilio D. Ramirez, chief of the Bocaue Municipal Police Staton, identified the suspect as “Jon-jon. He was caught in the act of producing “baby rockets” without the necessary license or permit from the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office.
Authorities seized 23 kilograms of potassium chlorate, a key component in firecracker production – along with a cylinder used for baby rockets and an undetermined quantity of finished firecrackers.
The operation was launched following a tip from a concerned citizen.
Acting on the information, Bocaue police led by Cpt. Ferdie S. Santos and Pat Adrian Balagtas tracked the location and apprehended the suspect.
The suspect and confiscated materials were brought to the Bocaue Police Station for proper documentation and legal proceedings.
Bulacan police director Col. Angel L. Garcillano said the arrest is part of the province’s intensified campaign against the illegal manufacture and sale of firecrackers, in accordance with Sections 4, 5, and 7 of Republic Act 7183 or the Firecracker Law.
The Bulacan PNP continues to urge the public to comply with firecracker regulations to ensure safety, especially during celebrations.
