More than 25,000 police officers will be deployed to ensure public safety during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. announced that police commanders have been directed to maintain peace and order in key areas, including transport terminals, cemeteries, and memorial parks, as millions of Filipinos are expected to travel and pay respects to their departed loved ones.

“The entire Philippine National Police will be on alert to secure the public during the observance of Undas 2025 (All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days). This means all police units nationwide will be at maximum deployment, ready to respond to any incident or emergency at any time,” Nartatez said.

He said more personnel and resources will be on standby for any eventuality.

Nartatez said there is no credible security threat that has been monitored so far, but emphasized that the PNP will not lower its guard.

“Despite this, we are not taking any chances. The full alert status allows us to quickly mobilize resources and maintain peace and order in all regions. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can observe Undas safely and peacefully,” he said.

Nartatez said all police regional offices were directed to heighten visibility operations, particularly in cemeteries, transport terminals, major roads, and places of convergence.

A total of 5,293 police assistance desks (PADs) were also established nationwide to assist travelers and respond to emergencies.

The PNP is coordinating with local government units, transport authorities, and emergency response teams to manage traffic flow and ensure public order.

Meanwhile, the PNP urged the public to stay alert against petty crimes such as theft and pickpocketing, which often occur in crowded areas during Undas.

“We remind everyone to stay vigilant, avoid bringing valuables, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police assistance desk,” said Nartatez. (Aaron Recuenco)
