Traffic enforcers safely stopped a grieving mother – reportedly suffering severe emotional distress after the loss of her child – from jumping off the NLEX bridge in Barangay Malhakan, Meycauayan City, Bulacan, on Monday, Oct. 20.

Identified only as alias “Joy,” the woman, a resident of Barangay Bayugo, was seen climbing the bridge railing around 12:20 p.m.

Traffic enforcers from NLEX and Meycauayan City, along with Councilor Ronald Palomates, responded swiftly to the scene.

They engaged Joy in conversation for nearly an hour, persuading her to step down while others carefully approached to assist.

During the conversation, enforcers learned that she was experiencing severe depression due to the loss of her child.

Joy was later brought to the Meycauayan City Social Welfare Office for counseling and support. (Freddie Velez)
