A Nigerian man was arrested in Las Piñas for allegedly extorting money from his former girlfriend, a Filipino businesswoman, following an entrapment operation conducted by the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the Southern Police District (SPD).
Las Piñas City Police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla identified the suspect as Dennis, 38, a resident of Paco, Manila. He was apprehended inside a fast-food chain along Daanghari Road, Barangay Almanza Dos.
Tafalla said the victim, “Marie,” 50, filed a complaint alleging Dennis demanded P1 million and threatened to expose information that could damage her business.
She also admitted they had been in a relationship for three years, and the extortion began after their breakup.
The DSOU, along with the District Intelligence Division (DID) and the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), coordinated the entrapment operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
Recovered from Dennis were a genuine P1,000 bill used as marked money, boodle money, two brown envelopes, and two mobile phones. He is currently detained at the DSOU-SPD pending the filing of appropriate charges. (Jean Fernando)
