Red-hot University of Perpetual Help System Dalta looks to stretch its string of wins to five when it battles Letran in the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Fresh off a 72-67 victory over the gutsy Arellano side, the Altas go for their fifth straight win against the Knights in their 2:30 p.m. showdown right after the 11 a.m. clash between San Sebastian and Jose Rizal University.
The Stags are out redeem themselves after a 21-point beating from defending champions Mapua Cardinals.
Perpetual coach Olsen believes Perpetual’s concerted effort was the key to their early success and they don’t intend to relax a bit.
“I like the way they are responding, doon sa gusto namin mangyari, they believed in the system that i put-in, grabe yung effort ng team,” said Racela.
“Pero ‘yon ‘yong kailangan ng team, we are not as talented as other teams, kailangan bawiin namin ‘yon in other things and more effort in which I like more,” he added.
Despite its hot streak, Perpetual is not taking Letran easily since the Knights are also coming off an 84-80 win over Emilio Aguinaldo College over the weekend – thanks largely to the defensive effort.
Racela, however, emphasized that complacency is a word alien to them, so he expects another fine performances from Patrick Sleat and Mark Gojo Cruz.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Perpetual Junior Altas seek to cut their two-game slide against the Letran Squires at 8:30 a.m.
