After weeks of sustained speculation about her love life, Chie Filomeno is back on social media anew.
No, she did not address the issue with finality. She simply urged critics to look beyond her personal story and focus on what truly matters.
It sounds very much like a redirect but to be fair, maybe she isn’t as ready as ex Jake Cuenca to come out and speak her truth as with her alleged ties to a Cebu businessman.
Reposting an art card quoting her now widely shared statement: “I may be a public figure, but I am not public property. I ask that my private part remain private,” she issued what seemed to read like both a reminder and a warning to critics.
“People have thrown dirt on my name, others given me flowers. It’s all a garden to me,” she wrote. “Lagi naman ganun, no? When you finally stand up for yourself, some people will still find something to criticize or belittle you.”
Obviously tired of being reduced to gossip fodder, she added, “If I stay silent, I’m guilty… And then if I speak up, kasalanan ko na naman.”
She added, “Tagal niyo na ganyan—kahit anong issue, kahit sinong artista—wala pa rin kayong pagbabago hanggang ngayon.”

Acknowledging her reputation for speaking her mind, she continued: “Since patolera daw ako (kayo na rin nagsabi niyan), I choose my battles wisely. Okay, this time… I’ll make patol. I will not allow anyone to belittle me especially the people close to my heart.”
Chie also took aim at online bashers hiding behind anonymity. “I’ve seen how some hide behind dummy accounts, private profiles, or worse—create new ones just to hurt others. That’s not right. Tigilan niyo na, please.”
Then she shifted the spotlight completely: “I will speak when I feel it’s necessary—dahil tao pa rin ako. Tao pa rin kami. Ang ingay-ingay na ng mundo natin. Mas mabuti unahin na lang natin ang mas mahalagang bagay, tulad ng flood control at ang malakas na lindol sa Cebu at Davao.”
She ended with a plea for compassion: “Let’s also pray for those affected by the earthquake and the floods. Hindi ‘yung buhay ng ibang tao ang inaatupag niyo.”
