Malacañang rebuffed Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga’s call for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to resign over allegations of corruption, stressing that the lawmaker has presented no evidence to support his claims.

“Mahirap po kasi magsalita nang walang ebidensya,” Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said during a Palace briefing on Thursday, Oct. 9. “Kung walang ebidensya, hindi dapat paniwalaan.”

Barzaga recently revealed that he has prepared an impeachment complaint against Marcos, following his earlier call for the President to step down.

Castro said Marcos remains focused on responding to the people’s needs and has no time to entertain the lawmaker’s remarks against him.

“Sa panahon ngayon na maraming ginagawa ang Pangulo, hindi po pinapansin ang ganyang klase ng usapin,” she said.

“Busy ang Pangulo sa pagtulong sa mga kababayan natin. Maraming trabaho para maiangat pa ang Pilipinas, hindi para ibaba ang dignidad ng ating bansa,” she added.

Castro declined to comment on the impeachment complaint, saying it falls under the jurisdiction of the House of Representatives.

“Makarating o hindi makarating, ito naman po ay trabaho po ‘yan at saklaw po ‘yan ng House of Representatives,” she said when asked if the complaint has already reached the President.(Betheena Unite)
