Akari has set its sights on nothing but a return trip to the Premier Volleyball League Finals but the Chargers are not getting too ahead of themselves as they brace for tougher competition in the Reinforced Conference that fires off on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
After two podium finishes last year—their most successful season to date—the Chargers look to finally capture their first PVL crown.
But the team, under new coach Tina Salak, is taking it one game at a time.
“All of the team’s goals naman, every conference is to get the championship. So walang nag-iiba sa Akari,“ said middle blocker Fifi Sharma.
“Of course, we are aiming for the highest achievement in this conference. And that is the championship. But of course, we’ll take it one game at a time. Hindi namin papangunahan sarili namin. We’ll take it one game at a time,“ she added.
Sharma will be joined by fellow star players Justine Jazareno, Ivy Lacsina, Ced Domingo, Gretchcel Soltones, Eli Soyud and Mars Alba in leading the charge for Akari. Annie Mitchell will be the team’s reinforcement for the conference.
“I feel like we have had ample time,“ said Sharma, talking about how prepared the team is for the upcoming conference.
“We have a new set of coaches. We also have new players on the roster. And I feel like everyone has been working hard to be able to adjust to Coach Tina’s system and I feel like it’s working well for the team,“ she added.
“We’re so excited to play with Annie. We’re just excited with how her dynamics will be with the team.“
