In the ever-dramatic world of Philippine showbiz and politics, Alma Concepcion might just have found her best role yet — not on the silver screen, but on the frontlines of public accountability, one Instagram post at a time.
In a plot twist worthy of a teleserye, the former beauty queen and actress, who had previously gone to bat for Congressman Arjo Atayde, is now questioning Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte over a ₱431-million transaction with controversial contractors, the Discayas.
On social media, Alma dropped her bombshell with the precision of a primetime cliffhanger:
“Meron ka din pala ng transaction sa mga Discayas na 431M? May iba pa ba? Terminated recently? Nung pumutok na yung issue? Bakit di mo dinisclose from the start? Akala ko ba good governance?”
Indeed, it seems that Alma has traded her sash and crown for a magnifying glass.
The post, complete with “FACTCHECK” notes, suggests the project began in December 2024 and was only terminated in 2025, conveniently after the flood control scandal erupted.

Netizens, of course, had a field day.
Some of the comments:
“Naku, bantayan natin ‘yan. Mga nagmamalinis…”
“Ano kaya ang sagot? Wait natin…”
Though many deemed the move commendable, many are worried as to what will happen to Alma after.
Note that Alma was roasted online for defending the Ataydes, called a “has-been” allegedly chasing clout. But Alma clapped back like a pro:
“Laos? At least sumikat at nakapagpundar. Ikaw? Sumikat ka ba? Nakaipon ka ba?”
Now, with her new-found crusader energy, Alma seems less “laos” and more “lumilinaw.”
Her transformation — from embattled celebrity to accidental watchdog — has amused, impressed, and bewildered fans all at once.
If this were a Hollywood reboot, the tagline might read: “She came to defend, but stayed to investigate.”
