Six fishermen were rescued and one body was recovered after a fishing boat carrying 13 crew members capsized in the coastal waters off Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Ana, Cagayan.
The vessel, identified as JOBHENZ, was anchored in the area to seek shelter from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Nando when it was struck by successive waves and strong winds, causing it to tilt and eventually overturn.
Coast Guard Station Sta. Ana responded to the distress call and launched immediate rescue operations, while search efforts continue for the six remaining missing crew members.
Additional search and rescue teams have been deployed, including personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard Special Operations Group (SOG) Divers and the Coast Guard Medical Team.
A high-speed response boat and several rubber boats have also been dispatched to aid in the ongoing operations.
