Gary Valenciano has joined thousands around the world in mourning the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot while speaking at the “American Comeback Tour” event hosted by Turning Point USA at Utah Valley University on September 10.

Kirk, co-founder of the influential right-wing organization Turning Point USA and a prominent supporter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, was killed onstage by identified suspect Tyler Robinson.

The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief across the globe.

Valenciano, known for his inspirational music and outspoken Christian faith, shared his thoughts on Instagram about Kirk recently.

The singer said he had only recently discovered Kirk’s online ministry but was struck by his boldness in sharing the Gospel.

“His courage was what got me—the courage to share the truth of God’s word. The truth can sometimes hurt, but it always sets captives free.”

Valenciano praised Kirk’s commitment to his calling, noting that even some who disagreed with his political views condemned the violence.

“He wasn’t following a feeling; he was obedient to his calling,” he said. “Even some of those who may not have agreed with him condemn what was done to him.”

The OPM icon rebuked those who celebrated the activist’s death.

“To the shameless who celebrate his death, I celebrate the hope that he helped bring to the countless whose questions were answered, whose wounded hearts healed, whose weary souls restored, and whose crushed spirit revived,” he declared.

Gary ended his tribute with a message of faith and comfort: “Run now and stay in the embrace of Jesus, my brother Charlie. Savor the smile on the face of the King of kings upon you.”
