A fire broke out early Tuesday, September 2, at a residence in Barangay Tinajeros, Malabon City, claiming the lives of a nanny and a three-year-old girl, and critically injuring another child.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze ignited at around 12:05 a.m. and was extinguished by 12:38 a.m.

Firefighters later recovered the bodies of the victims, with reports indicating that the nanny had shielded the young girl with her own body.

A six-year-old girl, who managed to call for help during the incident, was rescued through the house’s terrace. She remains in critical condition at a hospital.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of property damage. (Hannah Nicol)
