The Quezon City government has vowed to pursue justice for CJ Baldonado, the student who died on Wednesday, August 27, two weeks after being critically injured by falling concrete debris from a condominium building.
In a statement, the city assured the Baldonado family and the public that all necessary measures are being undertaken to hold those responsible accountable.
CJ’s death was confirmed by his father, Jason Baldonado, through a heartfelt social media post: “Pinaka masakit bilang isang magulang ang maghatid ng anak sa hukay… masakit pero alam ko lahat may purpose si Lord… mahal na mahal ka po namin sobra.”
CJ was one of two students who sustained severe head injuries when chunks of concrete reportedly fell from the building’s exterior while they were walking home from school.
A third student suffered arm injuries and is currently recovering.
The victim’s mother, Carla Baldonado, had earlier appealed publicly for medical assistance, saying her son was still fighting despite his critical condition.
The Social Services Development Department (SSDD) is coordinating with the family to provide immediate assistance.
Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the local government are finalizing both criminal and administrative cases against those responsible for the accident.
The city also pledged full support to the family in any legal steps they may pursue. (Allysa Nievera)
