Malacañang has announced the immediate relief of Police Gen. Nicolas D. Torre from his position as Chief of the Philippine National Police.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed the order in a memorandum dated August 25, directing Torre to ensure a full turnover of office matters to preserve service continuity.

Malacañang has not provided a reason for the relief of Torre, who took over the PNP’s top post in June.
