A Chinese national was arrested in Parañaque City following the rescue of a fellow citizen who had been kidnapped by a group that included the suspect.

The arrested individual, identified as Zhao, 36, was apprehended during a follow-up operation conducted by the Parañaque City Police.

Authorities said three other suspects remain at large.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the victim, Wu, 31, was rescued at around 10:36 a.m. on Sunday, August 12, at the lobby of a condominium on Pacific Drive in Barangay Don Galo.

CCTV footage from the condominium showed Wu entering the building earlier that day with two men and his girlfriend, known only by the alias Yan.

Hours later, Wu was seen in the lobby with a gunshot wound to his left foot and was immediately taken to Premiere Medical Center for treatment.

Inside the condominium unit where Wu was allegedly held captive, police recovered several sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and an Alien Certificate of Registration under the name Cui.

The follow-up operation led officers to a condominium in Barangay Don Galo, where Zhao was arrested.

Wu positively identified Zhao as one of the four individuals involved in his abduction. (Jean Fernando)
